Fearfully and Wonderfully Made in God's Image.



Today in my bible study it talked about being created in God's image. As I began thinking about this I also began thinking about how intricately and thoughtfully made we are.


We are not "just" human beings made up of cells. Each part of our body has a function and purpose. We have thousands of thoughts that run through our mind each and everyday. We have hundreds of feelings and emotions. We have beliefs and talents. We are each created to be different. No two finger prints are alike. How amazing is that? God created us to be different, but He created us ALL in His image.


Now, what exactly does that mean? Genesis 1:27 says this: "So God created man in his own image. in the image of God he created him; male and female he created him." On the sixth day of creation God created man, so that He could have an intimate relationship with us. Let me say that again. God created US, so we could have a relationship with HIM.  My bible  study explained "being created in God's image" in a way I hadn't ever heard before. It described that he word image is a translation of the Hebrew word "tselem" which is from "an unused root meaning to shade." Other translations say it means "an image as that which is a replica or shadow of the original." Give that a quick thought. We are made in God's image. We are to "shadow" him and follow in His footsteps. A shadow is dependent on the object of origin, therefore we are to model Christ in that way.


The passage in my Bible study went on to say that being in a relationship with Christ is much a like an apprenticeship. We are to learn from Him; Watch and mimic how He loves and serves others. He will guide us as we seek Him. We will learn to walk and talk with Jesus, and cherish that relationship. No life circumstance determines our position in Christ. Because we are His and He is ours. Nothing in this life can ever block out the sunshine (Christ), to take away our shadow.


My eyes were completely opened by this passage, and I hope yours were to. Take a moment and realize how wonderfully made you are. Praise God and thank Him for being created differently, yet in the same image.  "I will  praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." ~Pslam 139:14~




Let Us Pray.
Father God,
I thank for this day and everything you have so graciously given us. Thank you for not only creating us, but creating us in your image. So that we would be able to have an intimate relationship with you. Help us to mimic your love and mercy. Help us to walk in your footsteps and your shadow so that we would not go astray. Thank you for your willingness to guide and direct us, help us to follow your lead.
